Further, when asked who will the play role of Dev, Ayan replied, “I really feel we will really come into our own with our storytelling in part two. I have known that for a long time. Part one was just the foundation, the setup of this story. But I can’t tell you who Dev is. When the time is right, I will announce”.
Ever since Brahmastra was released in the theatres, fans are going gaga over Shah Rukh Khan ’s cameo as a scientist and also wondering about the storyline of Brahmastra: Part Two-Dev. Well, director Ayan Mukerji has got the answers but he chooses to be tight-lipped to keep the excitement intact for the upcoming second part. Although he has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s character might be back on screen. And the sequel will chronicle antagonist Dev’s back story as well as continue the present-day timeline.
In a recent interview with Indian Express, Ayan said that the first part took eight years in making but the upcoming sequel will be back in just three years, i.e 2025. “We have our target. We would like to make this film and have it come out three years from now. It is a tough timeline for us considering how much time part one took. But now we have also learnt how to make these kinds of films.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s role in Brahmastra has led to several fan theories, and also an online petition, requesting Ayan to mount a spin-off of his character Mohan Bhargav. Commenting on it, Ayan said, “Before the fans were saying it, we were also saying that ourselves. When we were shooting the sequence in 2019, we were also saying on sets. As we discovered the personality of the scientist, we said, ‘Yaar, we have to do stuff. We have to do the origins story of the scientist!'
Further, when asked who will the play role of Dev, Ayan replied, “I really feel we will really come into our own with our storytelling in part two. I have known that for a long time. Part one was just the foundation, the setup of this story. But I can’t tell you who Dev is. When the time is right, I will announce”. He added, “I can answer very few things about Dev. The idea was to create a very clear indication about where we are going next with the storytelling. That now we are really getting into the story of our antagonist. Decoding it, giving you some hook to hang on to for part two. Dev is the fulcrum of the entire Brahmastra trilogy.”
