Vishnu Manchu on Arshad Warsi-Prabhas row

In a recent development, actor Vishnu Manchu, who is also the President of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), has joined the conversation to voice his concerns over the issue. The Telugu actor recently wrote a letter to the President of the Cine and Television Artists Association (CINTAA), addressing the ongoing controversy sparked by Warsi's comments. In his letter, Manchu acknowledged Warsi's stature as a respected actor across industries but highlighted the Telugu film fraternity's discontent with his remarks about the Kalki 2898 AD star. “Mr. Warsi's remark has hurt the sentiments of many in the Telugu film community and among fans. In today's age of social media, where every word can quickly escalate into widespread debate, it is crucial that we, as public figures, exercise caution in our expressions,” the actor stated.

Manchu emphasized the importance of public figures being careful with their words, especially in the age of social media, where statements can quickly lead to widespread controversy. He expressed regret over Warsi's "belittling comment" and noted that it had created unnecessary negativity among cinema lovers and within the film community. “We request that Mr. Arshad Warsi be advised to refrain from making such remarks about fellow actors in the future. It is essential that we maintain the dignity and respect that each of our colleagues deserves, regardless of their regional affiliation,” he added.

In his appeal to CINTAA, Manchu concluded by stressing the importance of unity within the film industry and the collective responsibility to preserve it.

    Arshad Warsi controversy

For the unversed, Hindi actor Arshad Warsi during his recent interaction on the podcast Unfiltered by Samdish, sparked debate when he praised Amitabh Bachchan for his performance as Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD but expressed disappointment with Prabhas and his acting. Warsi remarked, “Prabhas, I’m genuinely upset. Why did he come across like a joker? Why? I wanted to see a Mad Max-style avatar, with Mel Gibson vibes. I just don’t understand why they would make such choices.”

The comment caused a significant stir on social media, with celebrities and fans from Telugu cinema joining the debate against netizens from the North, further widening the differences between South Indians and Hindi-speaking communities.

While many netizens view this as an unnecessary controversy being blown out of proportion, Prabhas' fans don’t seem ready to let it go anytime soon. Now, Telugu fans are eagerly awaiting a response from the CINTAA President and are also demanding an apology from Arshad Warsi for his comments.
