Arjun Kapoor recalls reacting to Malaika Arora's false pregnancy news: 'I think the casualness is what put me...'

Arjun Kapoor had once called out a publication for sharing a false pregnancy report about his girlfriend Malaika Arora. The actor had warned them not to play with their personal life by spreading fake news across media to become the truth. In the latest interview, the actor recalled how he handled the fake report and said that the negativity is easier to get people to pay attention.

In November last year, the Ishaqzaade actor shared a screenshot of the fake report.“This is the lowest that you could have gone and you have done it by being casual, insensitive and absolutely unethical in carrying garbage news,” read a part of his caption. Reacting to the same, Arjun recently said, “Negativity is easier to do. I think it gets people to pay attention because that’s been building for a while. Listen, we are actors, our personal life is not always very private. There is a certain amount that exists and you have to be okay with it already joining the profession. There might be that element that remains but I think we rely on you all to reach the audience,” he told Bollywood Bubble.

Further, Arjun said that there is a fair bargain between an actor and media. “I think it was handled at that point in time, I put it out, it was handled, it was taken off. There was a realisation of an error but I did that because I emotionally felt like I trust all of you. I’ve never hidden, I’ve never held back. If we maintain that equation and the decency, you should maintain that for us with our audience. Why do you want to put something that is not the truth and then I have to keep justifying myself? I think that’s just a fair bargain that we have in the process because information for any journalist has to be verified. It should not be just put out casually and especially when it comes to your personal life. I think the casualness is what put me in that situation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Arjun and Malaika made their relationship public in 2019 after years of dating. Workwise, Arjun was last seen in Kuttey alongside Konkana Sen Sharma, Tabu and Radhika Madan among others. Up next, he will be seen in Ajay Bahl’s The Lady Killer opposite Bhumi Pednekar. He also has Meri Patni Ka Remake with Bhumi and Rakul Preet Singh. On the other hand, Malaika was last seen in a music video Tera Ki Khyal with Guru Randhawa.
