Aranmanai 4
Aranmanai 4 turned the fate of Kollywood’s box office, which had been facing significant losses due to the lack of major releases from Tamil cinema. After a successful month-long theatrical run, the Sundar C directorial is ending on a high note and is finally set for its digital debut. OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar just announced that it has purchased the digital rights of the film and Aranmanai 4 will be available for streaming very soon. Although the OTT platform has not mentioned the exact release date, the horror drama is expected to make its OTT debut shortly after its Hindi version's theatrical run ends.
Aranmanai 4 plot
Directed by Sundar C, the Tamil horror drama is the fourth instalment of the popular horror film series Aranmanai. The fourth part centres around Sundar C’s character, who is a lawyer from Chennai. His sister is played by actor Tamannaah Bhatia, who, along with her family, shifts to an eerie bungalow. However, after her husband dies under mysterious circumstances, she too dies by suicide, and it is up to Sundar C's character to unravel the mystery surrounding their deaths. Raashii Khanna also plays a pivotal role in the film.
Sundar C about lack of appreciation surrounding commercial films
In a recent interview with Desimartini, Sundar C shared his insights on the lack of appreciation for commercial films. Slamming 'intellectual critics,' he said that although his movies often face heavy criticism, he has come to terms with the feedback and now focuses solely on box office numbers.
“People have always looked down on commercial films. As a commercial filmmaker, I am used to receiving judgements. Commercial films bring audiences to theatres and generate revenue for the industry, yet these are the films that so-called reviewers criticise. So, whenever I begin a film, I always tell my artists not to pay attention to the reviews. The box office numbers will speak for themselves,” the director revealed.
