Bollywood filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap seems to be mighty impressed with the theatrical trailer for the upcoming Tamil movie Maharaja. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, Maharaja promises to be a hard-hitting revenge drama.

Reacting to the trailer, Anurag Kashyap said, "Maharaja has stepped in to officially rule the screens."

Anurag has also played a key role in Maharaja, which is written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai fame.

Judging from the trailer, Anurag seems to have played the role of pure evil. Even though he only makes a brief appearance in the movie, his screen presence and devilish grin will send shivers down the spine of anyone.

Maharaja is not Anurag's first rendezvous with Tamil cinema. Earlier, he played the main antagonist in the 2018 crime drama Imaikkaa Nodigal. Last year, he made a blink-and-miss appearance in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. In Leo, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead, Anurag plays a gangster who gets killed in cold blood by his best friend. He landed that role after he expressed his desire to be part of Lokesh's cast. "I want to die in one of his films. He gives glorious deaths to his actors," said Anurag. Lokesh wasted no time in fulfilling the wishes of one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the country.

However, Anurag seems to have played a significant role in Maharaja. The trailer has garnered positive reactions from audiences and has created a lot of anticipation for its release.

Based on the trailer, Vijay Sethupathi plays a barber in the movie. He has recently been traumatized both physically and mentally, and he is in search of something. He claims that "somebody took away Lakshmi from his home" and has sent the entire police department on a wild goose chase.
