Rupali Ganguly's highly loved television serial Anupamaa has been making headlines ever since a tragic incident occurred on the sets recently. After a focus-puller lost his life due to electrocution on set, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) demanded justice for his life. The new updates in the case reveal that the AICWA has called his death "institutionalized murder caused by greed and negligence of producers, the production house, and the channel."
AICWA appeals to Maha CM Eknath Shinde
According to the latest reports, AICWA which is an organisation working for the security and safety of artists and workers of the Indian film industry, wrote a letter to CM Eknath Shinde, appealing for justice. The letter stated that the death of the crew member was "institutionalized murder caused by greed and negligence of producers, the production house, and the channel."
The founder and the President, Suresh Shamlal Gupta, wrote to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and also shared the letter on the official handle of AICWA on X.
Revealing details about the incident occurred on November 14, it is stated that that the crew member got electrocuted at 9:30 PM on November 14 due to faulty and poorly maintained equipment on sets. The letter added that despite the tragic accident, the shooting continued till midnight and resumed at usual hours the very next day.
Demands for justice
In the letter, AICWA has demanded the CM to file an FIR under IPC Section 302 against the culprits and wants to hold producers, the production house, channels, and authorities running the show responsible. The letter also reads that the family of the deceased should be compensated with Rs 1 crore, along with strict safety protocols enforced on sets. The organization also demands that the shooting for the show should be halted until justice is provided.
Following the incident, an FIR has been registered against the electrical contractor for negligence.
