Anil Kapoor's The Night Manager nominated for International Emmy Awards; Bollywood actor is in ‘tears of...’

Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala-starrer web series The Night Manager has been nominated for International Emmy Awards 2024. The crime-thriller was nominated for the Best Drama Series category in the prestigious awards. After the announcement was made on Thursday (September 19), Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor expressed his gratitude and excitement on social media saying that he is in ‘tears of disbelief and joy.’  

The Night Manager gets Emmy nomination

The Night Manager will be competing with Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God] (France), The Newsreader - Season 2 (Australia) and Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido - Season 2 (Argentina) in the International Emmy Awards 2024.  

Helmed by Sandeep Modi and backed by Banijay Asia and The Ink Factory, The Night Manager is a remake of the British television series The Night Manager (2016) based on John Le Carre's novel of the same name. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl and Saswata Chatterjee, the series is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.  

The 2024 International Emmy Awards will be hosted in New York City on November 25 and will be hosted by Indian standup comedian Vir Das.  

Anil Kapoor reacts to the Emmy nomination for The Night Manager

Reacting to the news, The Night Manager actor Anil Kapoor who plays the role of Shailendra Rungta in the series expressed his gratitude on social media. The actor took to social media and wrote, “In tears of disbelief and joy. Thank you team Thank you, god.”  

The actor also expressed his excitement in an interview with NDTV and said, “I just couldn’t believe it. I called Sandeep (the director) and the entire team. We were messaging each other”. 

In the series, actor Aditya Roy Kapur essays the role of Shantanu Sengupta, a former Lieutenant in the Indian Navy who now works as a night manager at a hotel in Dhaka while actress Sobhita Dhulipala plays the role of Rungta's girlfriend, Kaveri Dixit. The Night Manager marked the OTT debut of Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur.
