Cinematographer Shreya Dubey walked onto the stage to receive the award. On Saturday, Anil took to Instagram and hailed Harsh’s decision to get Shreya onboard.
Sharing the video of the nominations, Anil wrote, “It was Harsh who convinced us all to get @shredevdube as the cinematographer for Thar! He believed in her talent and could see what potential she had. After watching her black and white Bengali film we knew she was good but will she be able to handle an action film was the question…and she did so splendidly! Congratulations to Shreya and the entire team of #Thar for this win! May this be the beginning of many more awards on different platforms! Now let’s celebrate!” Soon after, movie director Raj Singh Choudhary commented, “Absolutely sirrrr, Harsh went all out with bringing her in and getting her on board!!” Check the post here:
Backed by Anil and Harsh Varrdhan, Thar is set in the 80s. Its official synopsis read, “A veteran cop sees the chance to prove himself when murder shakes up a sleepy desert town, sending him into the seedy underbelly of the town as he attempts to uncover a grisly torture plot.” The film features Anil, Harsh Varrrdhan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Satish Kaushik, Mandana Karimi, Mukti Mohan, and Jitendra Joshi among others. The film was released on Netflix on May 6, 2022, with mixed to positive reviews from critics. However, the movie was hailed for both technical nuance and brilliant story. It has been nominated in the race for Best Film, Web Original at OTT Filmfare Awards and is pending a decision.
