Angry Young Men trailer out: Docuseries celebrates the legacy of writer duo Salim-Javed
The docuseries Angry Young Men, which tells the tale of Bollywood film writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video.

The iconic duo of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar will soon be back on your screens. A documentary series titled, Angry Young Men, depicting the career trajectory of the two will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on August 20. Now, the makers of Angry Young Men have released the trailer on social media, giving us a sneak peek of all the trivia that will be revealed in the docu-series.

Taking to Instagram, the makers of Angry Young Men shared the series trailer with the caption, “Salim-Javed. Dare to Dream. The untold story #AngryYoungMenOnPrime. New Series, Aug 20 on @primevideoin.”
The trailer begins with Salim’s son and Bollywood actor Salman Khan saying that he has done many interviews in his life, but this is the first interview he is nervous about. Later, Javed’s son, producer-director and singer Farhan Akhtar, says that the only reason he knows his father wrote those films is because he was his (Farhan’s) father. Then, the trailer shows short glimpses of the films that the duo wrote including Trishul (1978), Kranti (1981), Deewaar (1975) and Chacha Bhatija (1977).
Later, Javed’s daughter and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar tells the viewers that the duo did 24 films together out of which 22 were blockbusters which had not happened before and might not happen again.
While displaying a lot of throwback pictures of the two, the trailer also shows other celebrities that will be interviewed in the series. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan says, “Aap koi aur writer dikha dijiye jiske naam pe log cinema hall mein andar aate ho (Tell me another writer duo who would attract the audience to watch their films).” Actor Hrithik Roshan even goes on to say that people, who were brought up watching Salim-Javed films, have a little bit of Salim-Javed in their blood.
Javed’s wife, actress Shabana Azmi, sarcastically said that there were people who believed that the duo thought too highly of themselves and she was one of those people.
The series will also explain the reason behind the separation of Salim-Javed that shook the industry. Speaking about their partnership, Salim says that they never sat down and thought of working together, they started working together and hence the jodi was formed.

Helmed by Namrata Rao, Angry Young Men is backed by Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar and his sister Zoya Akhtar under the banner Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Tiger Baby Productions. The series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
