Indian film icon Amitabh Bachchan is elated that his latest movie Kalki 2898 AD has grossed more than Rs 1000 crore from its worldwide ticket sales. It was special because Kalki 2898 AD was his first movie to achieve this box office feat. "This is no mean achievement. For Prabhas it may be a routine achievement as a lot of his films have grossed over Rs 1000 crore. But, for me, I'm truly indebted and very grateful to have been made part of this huge concept called Kalki," said Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan's Ashwatthama is one of the lead roles in Kalki 2898 AD. He plays the immortal character from the epic Mahabharata, who is destined to facilitate the birth of the god and achieve salvation from the curse of Lord Krishan.

"I really am falling short of words to express how much I have enjoyed the film. For those of you who may not know, I have already seen this film, four times. I have invited some guests of mine, and been to the theatre, IMAX. Each time I have discovered something new, something that I may have missed when I saw it the first time. For me, this film has not been another actor's job. For me, it has been a great education in our culture and Indian mythology, and how beautifully Nagi has brought all of that into the form of a film, or story, and made it credible in receiving support from all of you wonderful people," he added.

Amitabh's performance in Kalki 2898 AD was well received by audiences across the country. So much so that his role overshadowed that of Prabhas' Bhairava among movie buffs in North India. Fans were thrilled to see Amitabh in an action-packed role after a long time, and they lapped it up.

"I want to also express my thanks and gratitude for the honour it has given me to be with my co-artists, of the stratospheric presence they have had, still do, in the film industry, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and all the actors and actress taken part in this momentous occasion. There is another part of the film to bring it to its conclusion. I look forward to being asked to be part of it," he added.

Kalki 2898 AD, written and directed by Nag Ashwin, has already become the biggest hit of Indian cinema in 2024.
