    Novak Djokovic lost his Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz on July 14. While many celebrated Alcaraz’s victory against the legend, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media and expressed his disappointment after seeing his favourite player lose.

    Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Amitabh said that the country of Spain must be beaming with joy after Carlos Alcaraz won the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic and their football team beat England 2-1 at EURO 2024.

    Amitabh wrote, “SPAIN must be in celebration tonight. Alcaraz of Spain, wins Wimbledon ; and Spain wins the EURO 24 , beating England 2-1. My favorite Djokovic lost , so it was depressing .. but he lost to a young player of some brilliance , Carlos Alcaraz .. but generous in defeat!”

    Speaking about Spain’s victory in the sporting field, one user responded to Amitabh’s post and wrote, “Tennis, golf, football...What a Sunday.🇪🇸 won their fourth European championship. No national team has won more Euros. Alcaraz won his second Wimbledon (defending champ) and he's the youngest player to win back-to-back Roland Garros+Wimbledon. Four grand slams so far.”

    A Spanish user also took note of Amitabh’s post and spoke about how they are proud of their country’s achievement. The user wrote, “As Spaniard myself I am very happy and proud of my people' achievements. My motherland has great sportspersons which makes me feel thankful. I also love Novak Djokovic so much, he is a huge, noble champion and even more beautiful human being, who has my absolute respect.”

    Another user expressed their admiration at seeing Amitabh being so invested in sports even at the age of 81 and wrote, “Love your spirit and enthusiasm to follow sports so keenly, Sir. This kind of passion keeps one agile,”. Yet another netizen said, “Similar feelings.. Djokovic is 37, he has achieved way beyond.. but all respect to his indomitable spirit.. like you.”
