    Sivakarthikeyan on taking up Amaran

When Sivakarthikeyan was asked about playing Major Mukund Varadarajan, he revealed that the reason he took up the role was because of its connection to his father. Yes, you read that right! The actor shared that his father was in the police force, and having grown up seeing him in uniform, he felt a deep emotional connection to the role. He explained that while working on the film, he found many similarities between his father and Major Mukund Varadarajan.

The actor said, “Another reason I took up this project is that I grew up seeing my dad in uniform. He was a cop. The color of the uniform might be different, but the responsibilities are almost the same.”

He added, “When I first heard the story, I noticed many similarities between my father and Mukund Sir. I can’t reveal too many details right now, but yes, this was a big reason for me to be part of this project.” Sivakarthikeyan also revealed that his father had passed away while on duty. “When I saw Indhu (Major Mukund Varadarajan’s wife) for the first time with her daughter, I was reminded of my mother and sister. My father also died while on duty—not in a war, but due to job-related pressure. Losing a loved one is the hardest thing to deal with, but seeing Indhu Rebecca Varghese stand strong despite the tragedy brought hope to us all. I can’t wait to show this film to my mother and sister.”

Sivakarthikeyan was nervous about Kamal Haasan's feedback

The actor also shared that he was very conscious about perfecting his portrayal of Major Mukund Varadarajan. He admitted he was nervous about Kamal Haasan’s feedback and wanted to ensure his performance met the expectations of military personnel who would watch the film. “When I took up the project, there was a lot of pressure to get the role right. I’ve never really followed strict diets or routines for a character before, but for playing Mukund Sir, I had to adhere to military discipline. On one hand, I wanted to make the role suitable for the story’s demands, and on the other, I was nervous about Kamal Sir’s feedback since he was watching the footage,” Sivakarthikeyan said, while Kamal Haasan was seen patting him on the shoulder.

Sivakarthikeyan also mentioned that the moment he put on the military uniform, he truly felt what it’s like to be a real hero. He further revealed that while shooting some of the scenes, people on set praised his performance, saying that even though they didn’t understand Tamil, the scenes gave them goosebumps.
