Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Amaran is gearing up for an exciting Diwali release. The film is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies from the South this Diwali, with fans across Tamil Nadu eagerly awaiting its arrival on the big screen.
During a recent promotional interview shared by the makers of the film, the leading man Sivakarthikeyan revealed why he took a day after hearing the story to agree to director Rajkumar Periasamy’s offer to play Major Mukund Varadarajan in his biopic.

He said, “When Rajkumar Periasamy first narrated the story to me, I asked if I could take a day to decide whether to play the character or not. I don’t make decisions immediately, but this story did not let me sleep that night. I had so many thoughts—how is his family doing right now and so on. But the next morning, I woke up and called Rajkumar to say I had to do this film, no matter what.”

He emphasized that Amaran is not a war film but a portrayal of the life of a brave soldier and the beautiful life he lived.
Sivakarthikeyan had previously revealed that growing up watching his father as a police officer inspired him to take up the role. “Another reason I took on this project is that I grew up seeing my dad in uniform. He was a cop. The color of the uniform might be different, but the responsibilities are almost the same,” the actor shared.

Amaran is based on the inspirational story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Ashok Chakra recipient who was martyred during the Qazipathri Operation in Shopian in 2014. The film is loosely based on the non-fiction book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes.
Netflix has secured the streaming rights for the film, which will be available on the platform after its theatrical release. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, the movie features music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Ch. Sai, and editing by R. Kalaivanan.
Amaran is set to release on October 31, 2024.
