After the blockbuster success of Kalki 2898 AD starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, director Nag Ashwin is reported to be in talks with Bollywood actress Alia Batt for his upcoming female-led film. Alia, who is currently shooting for Yash Raj Films’ spy film Alpha, was recently seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra, which tanked at the box office.

Alia Bhatt and Nag Ashwin to unite for a film?

According to the latest report, Nag Ashwin is in discussions with Alia for a magnum opus female-led film. The untitled project will be produced by the Hyderabad-based production house, Vyjayanthi Films. The film is likely to go on the floor in the second half of 2025.

Speaking about the same, a source told Mid-Day, “Ashwin has crafted a script focused on a powerful female lead—a character that demands emotional intensity and depth which is tailor-made for Alia. While the storyline remains a closely guarded secret, the narrative would tackle themes of personal resilience and empowerment in a unique, contemporary setting.”

Nag Ashwin’s last film, Kalki 2898 AD starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani among others revolved around a dystopian world. The film shows a story where Kalki is about to be born to rid the people of their miseries and Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama who has the duty to protect the unborn child.

Alia, on the other hand, was recently seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra also featuring actor Vedang Raina. The film revolves around the lives of two siblings. The actress is currently shooting for Alpha alongside Sharvari Wagh. The film marks the first female-led starrer in YRF’s spy universe. Other films in the universe include Salman Khan starrer Tiger series, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, and Hrithik Roshan's War and War 2.

Alia will also be seen alongside her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama film Love & War.
