Akshay Kumar's clip as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj leaves netizens divided as he starts shooting for Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Sat

Akshay Kumar has begun shooting for Mahesh Manjrekar ’s Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Sat wherein he will be essaying the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The actor took to his social media handle to announce the same. Akshay also shared a clip of his fierce look as the king that has now left the netizens divided.

Talking about the same, Akshay Kumar first shared a picture of himself seeking blessings in front of a picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Phir Hera Pheri actor captioned the same stating, “Today I am starting the shooting of Marathi film 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Sat' in which I am lucky to be able to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ji. I will do my best by taking inspiration from her life and the blessing of Mother Jijau! Keep your blessings on us.” Take a look at the same.

Akshay Kumar also shared another short clip wherein he can be seen walking in a palatial courtroom kind of set-up in his look as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Ram Setu actor can be seen sporting the iconic attire and bearded look of the mighty ruler with an intense expression on his face. The song ‘Jai Bhavani Jai Shivaji’ can be seen playing in the background. Take a look at the same.

However, his clip left the netizens heavily divided. While some couldn’t stop praising the same, others thought that Akshay Kumar isn’t fit for this revered role. A fan stated, “Blockbuster” after Akshay’s look was released but on the other hand, a netizen said, “The worst thing that happened to Maratha Empire is Akshay Kumar doing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” Many users also said that actor Sharad Kelkar would have been a better choice for the role. However, it will be interesting to witness how Akshay does justice to the character once the movie is out for the fans.
