Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has completed shooting for the upcoming movie, "Kannappa," which will mark his debut in Telugu. Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu tweeted a note of thanks while sharing an update on the production.

Akshay Kumar seems to play a significant supporting role in the upcoming mythological movie. He joined the sets of "Kannappa" last April and shot for nearly two weeks.
At the moment, we know very little about the role Akshay Kumar is playing in the movie. Akshay was roped in to play a role that was earlier earmarked for Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar.
For some unknown reasons, Shivarajkumar opted out of the project, prompting the filmmakers to approach Akshay. The Hindi superstar shot for the movie on the sets built in Hyderabad.
Even though Akshay will make his debut in Telugu with "Kannappa," he's a popular face across South India. He has a significant fan following in the southern states. In 2018, he made his debut in Tamil with "2.0," starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. Directed by Shankar, Akshay played the main antagonist in the sci-fi drama, a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster "Enthiran."
"Kannappa" is a very ambitious movie in Vishnu Manchu's career. In addition to playing the titular role and bankrolling, Vishnu has also penned the screenplay. The film is being helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh.
Vishnu seemingly left no stone unturned to present "Kannappa" on a bigger canvas. He has roped in some of the biggest stars from across India, including Akshay, for this film. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Telugu superstar Prabhas will also be seen in cameo roles in "Kannappa."
"Kannappa" is expected to hit the screens in 2024.
