Ajith Kumar by her side: Shalini shares emotional hospital bed photo after surgery

Former actress Shalini underwent minor surgery at a private hospital in Chennai. After the successful completion of the medical procedure, she shared a photo of herself from the hospital bed with her husband Ajith Kumar by her side. "Love you forever," she captioned the photo.

Ajith flew down to Chennai from Azerbaijan on Tuesday to be with his wife and provide moral support during the surgery. At the moment, we don't have details about the condition that necessitated Shalini to undergo this medical procedure.

Shalini entered the film industry as a child artist during the early 1980s. She also made a mark as a lead actress in Tamil and Telugu movies during the 90s. Her popularity peaked with the release of Alai Payuthey, which was written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The romantic drama, which was released in 2000, was a trendsetter and made her a force to reckon with in the Tamil film industry.

However, soon after the success of this film, she quit the film industry. Shalini and Ajith met on the sets of Amarkalam in 1999 and fell in love. The couple got married on April 24, 2000, and Shalini fully retired from acting.

On the career front, Ajith is now busy shooting for Vidaamuyarchi. Written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the film is in the last leg of production. The shooting was paused for a couple of months after Lyca Productions ran into some financial troubles.

Vidaamuyarchi is fast nearing completion, and the filmmakers have shot majorly in Azerbaijan. It's believed to be an out-and-out action thriller.

Besides Ajith, Vidaamuyarchi also stars Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, and Arav, among others.

Vidaamuyarchi is expected to hit the screens later this year.
