Ajay Devgn served a reality check as he tries to school Kiccha Sudeep on Twitter over his 'national language' remark

Actor Ajay Devgn and Kiccha Sudeep entered an elaborate about the latter’s comment in an interview claiming ‘Hindi is no longer a national language’. The Runway 24 star penned a tweet in Hindi tagging Sudeep, to comment on his statement where the Bollywood star questioned the Kannada actor if Hindi isn’t India’s national language, why then are South films dubbed in Hindi.

Sudeep’s statement came in context of pan-Indian films which have quickly become the new trend in the film industry. Ajay checked the Kannada star for his statement while writing on Twitter: "Kiccha Sudeep, my brother, according to you, if Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your native language [mother tongue] films by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man."

The Dabangg 3 actor was quick to respond to Ajay’s criticism and clarified that his statement came in a larger context and has been misconstrued by him. Kiccha Sudeep replied to Ajay saying, “ Hello @ajaydevgn sir.. the context to why i said tat line is entirely different to the way I guess it has reached you. Probably wil emphasis on why the statement was made when I see you in person. It wasn't to hurt, Provoke or to start any debate. Why would I sir.”

Further poking Ajay’s choice of Hindi for his aimed criticism, Kiccha Sudeep then went on to add in another tweet that he could have very well used Kannada to register his reaction on the social media site like he used Hindi. “And sir @ajaydevgn,, I did understand the txt you sent in hindi. Tats only coz we all have respected,loved and learnt hindi. No offense sir,,,but was wondering what'd the situation be if my response was typed in kannada.!! Don't we too belong to India sir.”

Ajay chose to cap the debate that has taken Twitter by storm with an apology and wrote in English this time, “Hi @KicchaSudeep, You are a friend. thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. I’ve always thought of the film industry as one. We respect all languages and we expect everyone to respect our language as well. Perhaps, something was lost in translation.”

The Kannada actor also accepted his apology but added that he would have been happier to have been tagged in a tweet by him for creative reasons. Translation & interpretations are perspectives sir. Perhaps it would have been a happy moment if i had received a tweet from u for a creative reason. Luv&Regards.”

Kiccha Sudeep statement about Hindi came was made during the launch of the movie R: The Deadliest Gangster Ever. A journalist had asked the actor about a Kannada film (K.G.F. 2) taking the nation by storm. Sudeep had said in his response, “You said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening. Today, we are making films that are going everywhere.”
