Aitraaz 2 in the making! Subhash Ghai confirms sequel film based on bold themes
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai revealed that the sequel film of his 2004-released movie Aitraaz is in the making and that it will be helmed by Amit Rai.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s 2004-released film Aitraaz is still afresh in the audience’s memory. Marking one of the best performances by international sensation Priyanka Chopra as Sonia Roy, the film clocked the milestone of completing 20 years yesterday on November 12. Now, Subhash Ghai has revealed that Aitraaz 2 is in the making and will be better than the 2004 film.

In a recent interview, Subhash Ghai confirmed the sequel film of Aitraaz, which will be based on bold themes. Speaking about the making of Aitraaz 2, Subhash Ghai said that he heard a fantastic script from filmmaker Amit Rai, the writer-director of film OMG 2. He added “We are getting so many calls from various studios that they are interested in making the film. And I must say that Amit again has a big hit script with him at the moment. I really loved it.”
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Aitraaz was produced by Subhash Ghai in 2004. But the sequel film will be helmed by Amit Rai.
Talking about the plotline of the film, Subhash revealed, “The subject belongs to Amit Rai. He has written another bold issue about today's sex life with new values and new school of thoughts coming in. You can’t expect it to just be a social drama, it has to have some strong and high notes. We are excited to start the film.”
Aitraaz garnered several accolades for Priyanka. Speculating whether the international sensation will be roped in for the sequel film also, the filmmaker revealed that they have a wish list and will see who will be finalised.
He added, “It will be a bold role again which I am sure will get a lot of awards for the actor, as it did for Priyanka. This sequel will be better than Aitraaz.”
Aitraaz cast and themes
Helmed by Abbas-Mustan, Aitraaz starred Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan and was released in 2004. The film revolves around the themes of workplace harassment and its consequences. The film has left a mark among audiences with its daring themes and now we have to wait and see if the sequel film will match up to the original.
