Aishwarya Rai drops Bachchan from her name, amid divorce rumours with Abhishek Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai’s marital life has been the center of attention for months now. Rumors of her separation from husband Abhishek Bachchan garnered traction after the Bollywood star attended the Ambani wedding with her daughter Aaradhya, while Abhishek attended the event with the rest of the Bachchan family. The news became a topic of discussion again after Aishwarya recently attended an event in Dubai, where the ‘Bachchan’ surname was not attached to hers.

The pictures and videos of Aishwarya from the Global Women’s Forum event in Dubai were shared on social media.

But what caught people’s attention was when Aishwarya took the centre stage, the large screen behind her displayed the name ‘Aishwarya Rai. International Star,’ without the ‘Bachchan’ surname.

Recently, Abhishek Bachchan spoke about Aishwarya in an interview while promoting his film I Want To Talk. In the interview, the actor thanked Aishwarya for taking care of Aaradhya while he could go out and work in the movies. He said, "In my household, I'm lucky I get to go out and make movies but I know that Aishwarya is at home with Aaradhya and I thank her immensely for that but I don't think the kids look at it that way. They don't look at you as a third person, they look at you as the first person.”

The news surrounding Aishwarya and Abhishek’s divorce garnered attention after they arrived separately at the Ambani wedding event in July this year. Earlier, Aishwarya was seen arriving alone to cast her vote for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the rest of the Bachchan family came together.

Both Aishwarya and Abhishek have not reacted to the divorce rumours. However, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan had shared a long note on his blog a few days ago, calling out the spread of misinformation and fake information. But he did not specifically mention in what context he was making these statements.

After dating for a few years, Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in an ceremony in 2007 and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
