Shah Rukh Khan gets a Y+ security after receiving a death threat like Salman Khan.
After Salman Khan, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has fallen prey to nasty death threats following the recent success of his movies, Pathaan and Jawan. According to a news report in Etimes, the Maharashtra government has increased the security cover of Shah Rukh to Y+ citing ‘probable threats’ to him. Mumbai Police received an intel that the actor received a death threat from unknown persons.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan also has Y+ security ever since he received several death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. For the unversed, Y+ security refers to six personal security officers stationed in three shifts 24/7 with five armed guards at the residence of the person. The Main Hoon Na actor previously had two constables for his security.
According to the report, the state home department issued a letter to senior police officers and departments along with the Anti-Terrorism Squad on October 5. The letter stated that in light of the death threat received by Shah Rukh Khan, all unit commanders were requested to provide Y+ with an escort scale of security on a payment basis with immediate effect till the next high-level committee recommendation and review committee decision. The publication also quoted a police officer to reveal that the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge actor’s security upgrade has been done by the government as the officials of the review committee which annually reviews the threat perception to celebs and provides protection accordingly.
The Maharashtra government’s revised police protection policy of 2017 states that security is provided to private citizens who have a real threat to their lives. The celebrities who fall under this bracket have to pay for their police protection in advance. The report added that Shah Rukh will have to pay for his protection for now until the review committee takes a call on the same.
