After Nayanthara’s explosive open letter, hubby Vignesh Shivan takes a swipe at Dhanush; leaves netizens in splits

It's brewing drama in Kollywood ever since Nayanthara slammed Tamil actor Dhanush in her explosive open letter for being a roadblock to the release of her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. For the unversed, the actress issued an open letter earlier today, tagging Dhanush, in which she criticized the actor for charging Rs 10 crore for the use of clips from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the Netflix documentary.

Vignesh Shivan takes a swipe at Dhanush

Following the explosive open letter, the actress's husband and director, Vignesh Shivan, took her side in supporting her during this brewing drama. The director, in his latest post, shared a video of Dhanush giving a motivational speech on hate speech and spreading kindness. The speech is from the actor's audio launch event for his film Maari. The video also includes the legal notice sent by Dhanush's legal team to Nayanthara for using a 3-second clip from the film's set in their documentary trailer.

The Love Insurance Kompany director shared the video and captioned it, "Vaazhu Vaazha Udu 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️ #SpreadLove #OmNamaShivaya 🙏🙏🙏🙏 At least for the sake of some innocent die-hard fans who believe all of this! I sincerely pray to God for people to change 🙏🙏🙏🙏 and find happiness in other people’s happiness."

The director's support for his wife has earned respect from fans, who were stunned by the direct hit at Dhanush. One user commented, "Wikki na finishes off in style!" while another user commented, "Wikki na be like: Avan porula eduthu avanaye podanum da (Take his own thing and use it against him)."

What is the Nayanthara-Dhanush fiasco all about?

For context, Nayanthara criticized the actor and producer of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Dhanush, for refusing her repeated requests to use footage, songs, visual clips, or even photographs from the 2015 film.

Nayanthara revealed that following the release of the documentary's trailer, Dhanush issued a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore for the inclusion of brief clips recorded on personal devices from the decade-old film. She referred to this action as an “all-time low” for Dhanush, whom she once considered a friend, and challenged his ethics and public image.

She also claimed that Dhanush's decision was “only to vent out your personal grudge against us and that you have deliberately remained indecisive this long.”

Leaving nothing barred, the actress stated in her letter, "I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans, but clearly, you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner."
