Amar Kaushik’s 2018 released film Stree starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor is set in the fictional town of Chanderi. The film became one of the most successful films of the year, leading to the making of its sequel film.

Bhootnath

Bhootnath starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aman Siddiqui, Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan is a horror comedy revolving around the life of a child named Banku. After shifting to a new city, Banku encounters a spirit named Kailash in his house. How Banku befriends Kailash and how the child’s family helps Kailash to achieve salvation forms the plotline of the film.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

After the blockbuster success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the makers released its sequel titled Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in 2022. Helmed by Anees Bazmee, the sequel film starred the suave Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. The film followed the Thakur family which wascursed by Monjolika. While Rooh Baba (Kartik) falls in love with Reet (Kiara), he unravels the secret of Monjolika and brings it out in front of the Thakur family.

Roohi

Released in 2021, Roohi starred Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. The film followed two small-town boys who get stuck with a girl possessed by a ghost, leading to a mix of horror and humorous situations. The two boys, then, try to win over the girl. The roadblock in their way to the girl’s heart was the fear of the spirit that had embodied her. The film was directed by Hardik Mehta.
