    On December 2, Vikrant Massey took everyone by surprise. After the release of his critically acclaimed films 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report, the 37-year-old actor announced his retirement from acting through a social media post. Vikrant stated that it was time for him to step back and take a break from acting, leaving fans and Bollywood celebrities speculating about the possible reasons behind his retirement.

    Taking to Instagram, Vikrant shared a post that read, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and everyone of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home, as a husband, father, a son and also as an actor.”

    Speaking about featuring in his last two films, the actor stated that he will meet the audience one last time in 2025 with his two films Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan which will mark the acting debut of Shanaya Kapoor. He wrote, "So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between." In the end, he wrote, “Forever indebted.”

    The news of Vikrant’s retirement from acting shocked his fans and Bollywood celebrities as well who expressed their disbelief in the comments section. Dia Mirza Rekhi wrote, “Breaks are best you’ll be even more amazing on the other side,” while Vikrant’s The Sabarmati Report co-star Raashii Khanna wrote, “What? No!”

    While others believe that the announcement is a publicity stunt to gain traction for his upcoming film. One user wrote, “Most likely a marketing methodology for an upcoming project so that people will be curious to watch the movie in the theatre. Later he will change the statement. Relax,” while another commented, “Or preparing for a role in which he is not supposed to disclose his look...”

    Vikrant began his acting career with the television show Dhoom Machao Dhoom and gained national acclaim with a popular show titled Balika Vadhu. The actor began his film journey with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera and bagged a lead role for the first time in Konkona Sen Sharma’s film titled A Death in the Gunj.
