Kannada superstar Yash's long-awaited project, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, went on the floors on Thursday in Bengaluru. Yash took to social media to share the news with his followers, along with a still from the launch event. In the photo, Yash poses with producer Venkat K of KVN Productions. "The journey begins #Toxic," Yash captioned the photo.
Toxic commenced following a customary puja in Bengaluru. The event was attended by Yash and the producer, while most of the movie's main cast and crew were absent. Yash seems to have picked August 8 to launch the project for a special reason. "Yash will begin shooting his next film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups on [Thursday] 8 Aug 2024 [8-8-8] in #Bengaluru. Interestingly, the number 8 has a strong association with #Yash… It also matches his birth date and the date on which the official announcement of Toxic was made," popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted earlier.

Before launching the movie, Yash and his family visited several temples to seek divine blessings.
It has been a long wait for fans of Yash and the Kannada film industry. Following the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2, Yash showed no rush to sign his next movie. At a time when leading producers and directors across the country were eager to work with him, Yash went the other way.
He surprised everyone by joining forces with filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, who is known for making small-budget independent movies. For Geetu, Toxic will be the first major production in terms of scale and scope.
Yash subverted expectations and showed shrewdness by opting to work with Geetu, whose sensibilities are vastly different from those of other successful mainstream filmmakers. Toxic is also expected to present Yash in a new light instead of pigeonholing him as a specific of hero.
Toxic is believed to be a gangster drama told from the perspective of a female. The film also reportedly stars Nayanthara in the lead role. More details on the cast and crew are awaited.
