Working with Mohanlal and Mammootty 'is a dream come true' director Lijo Jose Pellissery gets candid

In a recent interview, director Lijo Jose Pellissery spoke about directing with Mammootty in the critically acclaimed ' Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam ' and Mohanlal in the upcoming ' Malaikottai Valiban '.

'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' premiered at this year's International Film Festival of Kerala(IIFK) to rave reviews.

Lijo Jose Pellisery is one of the most talented directors working in the Malayalam film industry. He has consistently delivered back-to-back critical hits. 

The director's 2019 movie, Jallikattu was selected as India's official entry at the 93rd Academy Awards, becoming the third Malayalam movie to do so.

In the interview with The Cue, the director who is working with Mohanlal and Mammootty back to back revealed that it was a joy to work with them and that it was always his dream to direct them.

He also revealed that the 1997 A. K. Lohithadas-directed 'Bhoothakkannadi' was his favorite performance by Mammootty, the movie would go on to win multiple awards including the best film at the 45 National Awards.

Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Mammootty plays the role of Jameson, who for some strange reason takes on a completely new personality after waking up from a nap.

The movie in the director's signature style is a mix of surrealism and fantasy. the director also revealed that he did not offer any instructions to Mammootty on how to play the role and wanted the actor to bring his own interpretation of the role.

As for the director firsr ever collbartion with Mohanlal titled 'Malaikottai Valiban' will be straing its prodcution soon in Rajasthan.

While plot details remain under wraps, it is rumored that Mohanlal will be playing the role of a wrestler named Chemboth Simon.

The director did reveal that this movie will be his first attempt at making a commercial cinema and that fans should be excited.

There are rumors floating around that the producers of the movie are eyeing Bollywood actress Radhika Apte to play the female lead opposite Mohanlal.

If the actress joins the project, this will be her second Malayalam movie after 2015s 'Haram' in which he was paired opposite Fahadh Faasil.

Speculation also suggests that Kamal Haasan has also been approached to play a vital role in the movie. We are sure to know more details after the official starts production.

Meanwhile, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam will be hitting theaters on January 19th, 2023.
