Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and acclaimed director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Thug Life is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films that Kollywood fans are eagerly awaiting. The film, which marks the reunion of the iconic actor-director duo, is currently in its post-production stage and gearing up for its 2025 release.

In a recent development, it has been speculated that the film’s digital rights have been sold in a massive OTT deal. According to reports, a yet-to-be-disclosed OTT platform has purchased Thug Life's digital rights for a staggering price of Rs 149.7 crore. This record-breaking deal marks the largest OTT sale for a Tamil film to date. Although it is yet to be confirmed which OTT platform has secured the film, fans are excited to witness the visual spectacle created by two legendary geniuses of Tamil cinema.

Thug Life shoot to be completed soon
Reports also indicate that the film’s final day of shooting is currently underway, and the makers are expected to wrap up the entire production soon. Sources suggest that the team is aiming for an April 2025 release and will soon update fans with new announcements.
While the makers have remained tight-lipped about key details of the film, producer Siva Anant previously revealed that the “X factor” of the Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan reunion will be a major highlight. “We’ve achieved a lot in this film. Hopefully, the audience will see that. That X-factor will shine in theatres,” he said. For context, Thug Life marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 35 years. They last collaborated on the 1987 blockbuster Nayakan.

Touted to be a gangster drama, Thug Life boasts an ensemble cast, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Trisha, Gautham Karthik, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Nassar, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Vaiyapuri, among others. The original background score and soundtrack for this gangster drama have been composed by musical genius AR Rahman.
