'Thriller on peak': Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi's Merry Christmas trailer leaves netizens intrigued

The much-awaited trailer of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas has finally been released. Set against the backdrop of Christmas, the thriller centers around two strangers who instantly hit it off, and their romance soon turns into a nightmare. As soon as the gripping trailer dropped, netizens were left intrigued and shared their eagerness to watch the suspense thriller.

The two-minute, twenty-second-long video starts with two mixer grinders, one with peanuts and red chillies and the other with what looks like sleeping pills. Then it introduces the characters of Katrina and Vijay meeting each other for the first time on Christmas Eve. Then follows dramatic events that end up putting both in trouble. Sanjay Kapoor makes an appearance while Tinnu Anand's voiceover introduces us to the setup.

Reacting to the trailer, a user wrote, “Wow too much suspense.” The second user commented, “To those questioning Katrina Kaif's acting skills I hope the trailer itself gives the answer.” The third user reacted, “Katrina finally got a platform and co-starts to showcase her real talent.” The fourth user reacted, “Brilliant casting to see @katrinakaif in a role like never before with @actorvijaysethupathi in a suspense thriller!!!” “Goosebumps 🔥❤️👏 👍 this movie will be a blockbuster .... Directed by Sriram Raghavan of Andhadhun fame, Merry Christmas has been filmed in both Hindi and Tamil and the Tamil trailer is completely different. Besides Katrina and Vijay, the film also has Vinay Pathak, and Pratima Kanna in the film. The Tamil version has stalwarts like Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kavin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams, while Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar have special cameos in both Hindi and Tamil versions.

Backed by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani & Kewal Garg, the film is set to arrive in theatres on January 12, 2023.
