The GOAT
Thalapathy Vijay’s latest sci-fi action thriller The Greatest of All Time created a massive buzz among cine-goers, who have been raving about the impressive film delivered by director Venkat Prabhu. However, the film has seen a major drop in numbers compared to its opening day collection. Here’s how much The GOAT has collected on day 2 of its release:
Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time box office collection day 2
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Thalapathy Vijay’s latest action thriller opened to an impressive collection of ₹44 crore at the domestic box office. However, on day 2, the film’s box office performance showed a decline, as it managed to collect approximately ₹24.75 crore across India, marking a 43.75% drop. The film's total domestic collection now stands at ₹68.75 crore.
But the film collected around ₹126.32 crore globally on its opening day on September 5, placing it second on the list of Vijay’s highest opening, just behind his 2023 film Leo. Although The GOAT had 4,500 shows in various languages, the Vijay-starrer saw an overall occupancy rate of 60.38% in Tamil-language screenings, with most of the audience attending night shows. Due to its solo release this week, the movie is expected to pick up more numbers over the weekend.
The GOAT extended cut to be released on Netflix
Director Venkat Prabhu had earlier revealed that the makers had to trim around 18 minutes of footage from the film to fit it into the standard duration of a feature film. He mentioned that the OTT (Netflix) version of the film would include the deleted scenes, that feature additional comedy involving the leading man, Vijay, along with other scenes that were removed from the theatrical version. For context, the theatrical runtime is 3 hours and 3 minutes.
