Kiccha Sudeep about his mother Saroja Sanjeev
It's been a long wait for fans of Kannada superstar Sudeep, who last appeared in a lead role in Vikrant Rona (2022). His brief cameo in 2023’s Kabzaa, which failed both critically and commercially, left fans yearning for his next big project. The upcoming movie Max, touted as a cinematic treat for Sudeep’s fans, faced several production delays, leaving the star with personal and emotional regret.
Scheduled to release on December 25, Sudeep recently revealed his sorrow about not completing Max in time for his late mother, Saroja, who had been eagerly waiting to watch it. “My mother kept asking me for updates about this movie, and she was very eager to watch it. Due to various reasons, I couldn’t finish the film on time, and I regret it very much,” he said during a press meet in Bengaluru.
The actor also admitted to being reluctant about participating in the film’s promotional activities, as he was still mourning his mother’s passing. Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, known for his grand promotional campaigns, had ambitious plans for the film’s release in Karnataka. However, Sudeep apologized on stage, explaining his emotional state and lack of involvement in the promotions. “I showed my mother a few scenes from the movie whenever I could. That gives me a little consolation,” he added.
Sudeep took the opportunity to praise Thanu, recounting their first meeting over 20 years ago. He reminisced about his visit to Thanu’s office as an up-and-coming actor, hoping to secure the Kannada remake rights for the Tamil hit Kaakha Kaakha. Despite being visibly stressed, Thanu granted Sudeep the rights for free, an act of generosity that left a lasting impression on the actor.
“Later, when someone else wanted the rights, he called me and politely asked if I could return them. His kindness and respect for me back then are the main reasons I agreed to act in this movie,” Sudeep shared.
Directed and written by Vijay Karthikeyaa, Max promises to be an action-packed entertainer.
