Shruti Haasan expressed nostalgia over her music video Monster Machine as it celebrated its one-year anniversary on Saturday. She shared a heartfelt message about the effort and passion that went into creating the video, saying, “Monster machine - it’s been a year now ! What a task filled with love darkness magic and absolute fun ! So thankful to the entire team who worked on it from the music to the video and so grateful for the everyone who vibes with the energy of it - more to come and I never take for granted how much of a blessing it is to have the ability to share my voice and visions with the world.”
I won't be wrong to describe Monster Machine as a turning point in her music career, marking a conscious shift in her creative choices. While she had primarily focused on acting in recent years, the video highlighted her renewed dedication to independent music, showcasing her unique style and talents.
In Monster Machine, Shruti challenges conventional ideas of femininity and perfection. She begins in traditional attire before transforming into an intense, dark persona, donning black and wielding a sledgehammer to shatter regressive stereos. Pushing her creative boundaries, she immerses herself in black paint to convey a jarring, unapologetic image that celebrates self-expression.
“In all these years one thing I know is what makes you weird makes you beautiful and honest and what darkness teaches you is to love the light and the shadows - Thankyou for all your love,” Shruti noted. Monster Machine signified her comeback in the music world, sparking excitement for what’s next in her evolving career.
Following the success of Monster Machine, she followed it up with #Inimel, a song that marked a special collaboration with her father, Kamal Haasan. Besides co-writing the song and producing it, he also lent his vocals, adding a personal touch to the project.
