Movies such as Shah Rukh Khan’s Veer Zaara repeated their success in the theatres, while the folk horror film Tumbbad found better success on its re-run. Now, the upcoming year too is likely to continue with the trend as Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya is set to make a comeback to cinemas. Read on to know more about this exciting announcement.

Satya, the film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, stars Manoj Bajpayee, JD Chakravarthy, and Urmila Matondkar in the lead roles. On December 27, Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter handle to make the announcement of Satya’s re-release.
“SATYA coming back into theatres on a re release with ALL GUNS BLARING on JAN 17 th 2025 ..The UNDERWORLD is coming into the UPPERWORLD,” the director said on social media.
The latest announcement has excited the fans as Satya has attained a cult status over the years. The 1998 film, written by Saurabh Shukla and ace filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap, went on to garner critical acclaim and had a good run at the box office. It also won several Filmfare Awards and one National Award.
Satya plot and cast
The film revolves around Satya, who after being wrongfully accused of a crime and getting imprisoned, seeks vengeance. He meets crime boss Bhiku Mhatre in jail and joins his gang. JD Chakravarthy stars as Satya, while Manoj Bajpayee essayed the role of Bhiku Mhatre.
Urmila Matondkar also appears as Vidya in the movie along with Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, and Aditya Shrivastava.
