Sardar 2: Malavika Mohanan joins the cast of Karthi’s film | Here's why she's excited...

Sardar 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited sequels in Tamil cinema. Starring Karthi in the lead role, the production for the spy action film began last month. Although the makers have not given any other major updates, the latest news from the team has everyone excited. In a recent development, the makers welcomed Thangalaan actress Malavika Mohanan onboard Sardar 2. Sharing the announcement poster, the makers of the Karthi-starrer wrote, “Excited to have @MalavikaM_ on board #Sardar2.”

Malavika also shared the news and expressed her excitement about working on the new project. She wrote, “Best start to my birthday week! So excited to announce my next project in Tamil! That too with this fantastic team! Can’t wait to get started on this one!”

Sardar 2 plot revealed

According to earlier reports, it has been speculated that Sardar 2 is about drug trafficking. Notably, the film aims to raise awareness among youth about the societal impact of drugs. 

Although an official update is awaited to confirm this information, the story has already led fans to draw comparisons with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s LCU franchise, which also focusses on the mission of creating a drug-free society.

Reports also reveal that the producers are making the movie on a massive budget, making it the most expensive film in Karthi's career thus far. It is said that the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster Sardar will be much bigger than the first installment.

Directed by P.S. Mithran, Sardar 2 is bankrolled by Prince Pictures and features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has replaced G.V. Prakash Kumar from the first part. George C. Williams, who handled the cinematography for part 1, will be returning for the sequel.

More details about the rest of the cast and crew are expected to be disclosed soon.
