Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani witnessed a 15 to 20 per cent jump in collection on Sunday. Helmed by Karan Johar, the family entertainer pulled audiences to the theatres owing to positive word-of-mouth. The total collection is set to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in just four days of release.
According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film amassed Rs 19 crore approximately on Day 3. The film made an average opening of Rs 11.1 crore despite the massive buzz created around it. However, the film showed growth on Saturday raking in Rs 16.05 crore at the box office. The film’s earnings now stand at Rs 46 crore. The film hit the screens on July 28, 2023, worldwide.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has largely received positive reviews from both the audience and critics. The film follows the love story of Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia), whose family background and culture are poles apart. While Rocky is a fitness enthusiast that belongs to an affluent Punjabi family, Rani is a journalist from a Bengali household. The film also has a subtle message about women's empowerment and gender equality. The film also has veterans Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan as supporting cast.
The DesiMartini review read, “Karan Johar has curated a wholesome family entertainer which also aims to bring many underlying societal wrongs to the forefront under the garb of a love story. Be it Rani trying to empower the women of the Randhawa household who have been suppressed, tormented, and left devoid of their happiness and aspirations or Rocky trying to find acceptance with his unabashed self in the sophisticated and cultured lifestyle of the Chatterjees, the movie sheds light into many undercurrents. The writing by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy has dialogues ranging from cheesy pickup lines, sleazy PJs, and many references from Karan Johar's previous movies which strike a chord."
