The Kashmir Files , helmed by Vivek Agnihotri , and SS Rajamouli’s RRR are two incredible movies which took the nation by storm this year. While the former created history by crossing the Rs 100 cr mark in just a matter of 1 week, the latter has now entered the Rs 1000 cr club. On top of this stupendous collection at the box office, they successfully emerged as two of the most talked about and loved Indian films of 2022.
Well, in a recent interview with India Today, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma shared his views on the success of the two films. He lauded his fellow directors for their achievement, but went on to explain how The Kashmir Files emerged as the bigger game changer. He was quoted saying, “RRR is not a gamechanger and according to me, I don't think it can bring about a change. It is a film that is produced on a lavish scale. And RRR is a kind of film that comes once in four or five years. To mount a film on such a scale, you need a director with a great track record - someone like Rajamouli.”
He stated that The Kashmir Files is a real game changer because it gives other filmmaker much needed confidence. RGV lauded the film for being made on a budget of Rs 10 crore and spinning over Rs 250 crore. He went on to add, “Obviously, RRR and The Kashmir Files are minting money. But, it is easy to make The Kashmir Files, but not RRR. Not every would have Rs 500 crore as a budget. But, producers would surely have Rs 10 crore as budget.”
