With just a few days left for Akshay Kumar ’s Prithviraj to release, the makers have refused to fulfill Karni Sena’s demand of changing its title to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film is set to hit theatres on June 3.
The historical drama Prithviraj produced by Yash Raj Films landed into trouble after fringe group Karni Sena expressed their concern over the film. Though after watching the film, they gave a go-ahead to its release but demanded a title change. They asked the makers to add ‘Samrat’ to the title.
In the recent development, the reports from Bollywood Hungama suggest that Yash Raj Films has decided that they will not be changing the title. “There are hardly few days left for the release for the film. They do not want to change the title now. We can safely say that we have portrayed the king in all his glory and we have tried to retain as much history as we can,” a close source close to the development told the news portal.
However, the Karni Sena has earlier warned of serious consequences if their demands are not met. One of their spokespeople had told Etimes that if their demands are not fulfilled then they will not allow the release of the film in Rajasthan."We have already warned the exhibitors of Rajasthan about the same. If the title of the film does not change to 'Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan', we will not allow them to show the film in Rajasthan," he said.
Prithviraj is touted to be Yash Raj Films’ very first historical drama which will feature Akshay as a mighty ruler Prithviraj Chauhan, the king from the Chauhan dynasty who ruled the territory of Sapadalaksha, with his capital at Ajmer in present-day Rajasthan. The film also stars Miss World Manushi Chhillar , who is all set to mark her big Bollywood debut essaying the role of Princess Sanyogita, the wife of Prithviraj Chauhan. Besides her, the film also has Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in key roles.
