The shooting for the upcoming Malayalam film PDC Athra Cheriya Degree Alla, which stars Johny Antony, Binu Pappu, Jayan Cherthala, and Santhosh Keezhattoor, is expected to wrap up shooting in January 2025. Currently, the shooting is progressing in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts and border villages.

The makers have revealed that PDC Athra Cheriya Degree Alla will narrate the campus tale of a bunch of youngsters, pursuing their pre-degree at a residential parallel college in the 1996-98 period.
The film takes us back to the 90s Kerala, when parallel colleges were a common feature in small towns, providing a space for those who failed to clear class X exams in the first attempt or received poor marks.
The movie depicts the highs and lows as teenagers break away from the shackles of school rules as they reach Trinity Parallel College in Kollam. The film also looks at these youngsters, years later, as they renew their bond over a WhatsApp group. When one among them, Joseph Mathew, gets entangled in an issue, the friends join hands to help him.
Apart from the senior actors, Balaji Sharma, Sona Nair, Veena Nair, Manju Pathrose, Lakshmi Priya, Thirumala Ramachandran, Riyas Narmakala, Biju Kalavedi, and Munshi Hari are also part of the cast. The film, which is touted to be a comedy entertainer, also introduces 16 newcomers.
Producer Rafi Mathira is juggling multiple duties for the film, including direction, and writing the story, script and dialogues. Unni Madavoor as the cinematographer.
The film is slated to hit theatres later in 2025.

Meanwhile, several highly-anticipated movies will be released in 2025, including Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s L2 Empuraan. Tovino Thomas and Trisha Krishnan’s Identity is the first major release of the year as it hits theatres on January 2. Another anticipated release of January 2025 is Thudarum which reunites the iconic pair of Mohanlal and Sobhana.
