Nikamma box office Day 2: Abhimanyu Dassani starrer masala entertainer witnesses slight growth, mints Rs 1.2 crore

Abhimanyu Dassani’s starrer Nikamma recorded a slight increase in its earnings on Saturday, collecting Rs 70 lakh. The film had a disastrous opening at the box office and managed to collect only Rs 51 lakh. It was expected that the film will drastically improve over the weekend, but going by the numbers, the movie’s business needs to pace up to stay afloat at the box office.

Earlier, the trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film is below par on Day 1, but the collection got a push in the evening at mass centres. Its earnings remained weak in the metros, therefore, weekend collection needed to be crucial to salvaging the situation. The lifetime collection of the film is predicted to be around Rs 3 to 4 crore, due to its average reviews from the critics.

Directed by Sabbir Khan, the film marks Abhimanyu Dassani’s first venture into the commercial space. Apart from him, the film features Shilpa Shetty and Shirley Setia in prominent roles. The film was released on June 17, facing tough competition from Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which still continues its dream run even after four weeks of release.

In the review of Nikamma, Desimartini wrote, “ Nikamma severely suffers in all aspects. If the loud, over-the-top, and cringe introduction and character development of the lead protagonist were not enough, the movie massively falters in the inculcation of even the most basic common sense and logic in all of its subplots. Be it Abhimanyu Dassani’s Adi explaining to the baddies why he won’t burn due to the LPG gas leakage or Shilpa Shetty’s Avni suddenly turning out to be a cop, in the end, you just find the chain of events and the dialogues bizarre and exasperating.”
