Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale
After more than two years of anticipation, the highly-awaited Netflix documentary on Tamil cinema's power couple Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is finally set to see the light of day. Titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, the documentary, which faced multiple delays, promises to offer fans an intimate look at the duo's fairytale wedding and love story.
While Netflix has confirmed the documentary’s run time to be 1 hour and 21 minutes, an official release date has yet to be announced. Initially planned for release soon after their opulent June 2022 wedding, the documentary's delay has only heightened the excitement and curiosity surrounding its content.
Directed by filmmaker Gautham Menon, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the star-studded Mahabalipuram wedding, which was attended by the who's who of the Indian film industry, including Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan. Netflix had earlier released a teaser, which teased that the documentary would go beyond being just a wedding video packed with celebrity appearances. It promises to explore personal, candid moments, shedding light on Nayanthara's journey from a non-film background to becoming a trailblazer in Tamil cinema. In the teaser, Nayanthara reflects on her rise to stardom, emphasizing the importance of hard work and sincerity in her career.
On the professional front, Nayanthara continues to make waves. Last year, she made her grand debut in Bollywood with Jawan, directed by Atlee, starring Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a massive success, grossing over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. However, her solo release Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food stirred controversy after its release on Netflix, leading to the streaming platform removing the film due to a political backlash. Nayanthara even issued a public apology in the wake of the incident.
