Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was spotted wearing army fatigues, inspecting the destruction caused by the landslides in Wayanad, one of the worst natural calamities to strike Kerala, which has already killed more than 300 people.
Mohanlal took stock of the damage in the Mundakkai area in Wayanad in his capacity as Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. In a heartfelt note, he announced a ₹3 crore donation towards the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund, while appreciating the selfless work of rescuers helping people affected by the calamity.
"The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home lost and life disrupted is a personal tragedy. ViswaSanthi Foundation is pledging ₹3 crore for immediate relief and rebuilding efforts with the support of Dorf-Ketal Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. One of our commitments is the reconstruction of the LP school at Mundakkai. Witnessing the courageous efforts of the soldiers from my 122TA Madras battalion and the rescue teams was profoundly moving. Their selfless dedication and the resilience of the community inspire hope. Together, we will rebuild, heal, and emerge stronger," Mohanlal said in a statement while sharing a few photos with members of his regiment.

Mohanlal is the first Malayalam star of his stature to personally visit the landslide-affected area as a gesture intended to appreciate and motivate the rescue workers. Last week, torrential rains triggered multiple landslides in the villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, and Meppadi. The details of the tragedy have sent shock waves across the country.
Many leading stars of the Indian film industry have made generous donations towards the relief fund.
