Malayalam superstar Mammootty recently tweeted a photo of himself alongside Mohanlal and Kunchacko Boban, confirming their collaboration in Mahesh Narayanan's next directorial venture. The trio has travelled to Sri Lanka to begin shooting, with Mammootty's photo shedding light on the much-anticipated project, which has so far been kept under tight wraps by the cast and crew.
The film has not been officially announced, despite months of buzz surrounding Mahesh Narayanan's efforts to assemble a formidable cast. The excitement largely stems from the pairing of Mammootty and Mohanlal, two stalwarts of Malayalam cinema, sharing the screen again. The stars and the director maintained silence about the project until their arrival on set in Sri Lanka.

While Mohanlal reached the shooting location a day earlier, Mammootty, producer Antony Perumbavoor, and actor Kunchacko Boban departed from Kochi on Monday evening. Antony shared a video from the airport with the caption, "Take off from Kochi with @mammootty sir and @kunchacks."
Mahesh Narayanan has been remarkably secretive about this project, which marks the most ambitious venture in his directorial career. Known as a celebrated film editor, Mahesh has successfully transitioned to directing, creating a niche for himself with critically acclaimed films such as Take Off, CU Soon, Malik, and Ariyippu. His works are renowned for their innovative storytelling and have received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
His most recent directorial project, Ariyippu, was released in 2022. He also directed a segment of the Malayalam anthology Manorathangal, which is currently streaming on ZEE5.
However, the scale and ambition of the upcoming film with Mammootty and Mohanlal surpass anything Mahesh has done before.
This project holds special significance for fans of Malayalam cinema, as it marks the reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal after 16 years. The last time the two shared the screen was in the multi-starrer Twenty:20, released in 2008.
