One of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year is Mohanlal's upcoming project MalaiKottai Vaaliban directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery has officially wrapped filming.
The movie was shot over 130 days. The major locations of the movie include Chennai, Rajasthan, and Pondicherry.
The majority of the filming took place in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan schedule took 75 days to complete and one of the highlights of the Rajasthan schedule of the movie was a large action sequence shot in Pokhran that involved over 300 stunt artists and was shot at night.
The Chennai schedule of the movie lasted around 40 days. The first teaser of the movie dropped on the eve of the Vishu festival in Kerala.
The project is considered by many Mohanlal fans to come back for the veteran actor who had a poor run at the box office last year.
Malaikottai Vaaliban is Mohanlal's first collaboration with critically acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery, the movie reportedly has a massive budget, and a lot of big stars are rumored to be a part of the project.
Director Lijo Jose Pellissery did reveal that this movie will be his first attempt at making a commercial cinema and that fans should be excited.
Lijo Jose Pellisery is one of the most talented directors working in the Malayalam film industry. He has consistently delivered back-to-back critical hits.
The director's 2019 movie, Jallikattu was selected as India's official entry at the 93rd Academy Awards, becoming the third Malayalam movie to do so.
The movie is produced by Shibu Baby John, Mohanlal, and Lijo Jose Pellissery under the banner of John & Mary Creative Century Films in association with Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments and Amen Movie Monastery.
Joining Mohanlal the rest of the supporting cast of Malaikottai Vaaliban includes Jiiva, Katha Nandi, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, and Sonalee Kulkarni.
