Fans of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu have long wished to see him star in a mythological film, and it looks like their dreams may soon come true. According to the latest reports, Mahesh Babu will be seen plaing Lord Krishna in his nephew Ashok Galla's upcoming film Devaki Nandana Vasudeva. The film, headlined by Ashok Galla, has story penned by popular director Prashanth Varma, known for Hanu Man.

Reports suggest that Mahesh Babu's role will be a cameo appearance, where he will be seen playing Lord Krishna. The star has previously shown support for his relatives Sudheer Babu and Ashok Galla by attending their pre-release events and launching their trailers, though he has never acted in any of their films. If his involvement in Devaki Nandana Vasudeva is confirmed, it would undoubtedly provide a huge boost to the project.

Directed by Arjun Jandyala, the Ashok Galla-starrer features Varanasi Manasa as the female lead. The film is being produced by Somineni Balakrishna under the banner of Lalithambika Productions. The film is slated to hit the big screens on November 14, 2024.
Mahesh Babu's upcoming project SSMB29
Meanwhile, the Telugu superstar is currently preparing for his next film with acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli, tentatively titled SSMB29. Screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad, who is also Rajamouli's father, recently announced that filming for the highly anticipated SSMB29 will commence in January 2025. He also revealed that the movie will draw inspiration from the Hindu epic Ramayana, with Mahesh Babu's character reportedly modeled after Lord Hanuman, particularly in terms of his resilience during challenging forest adventures. Vijayendra Prasad described the project as an action-packed adventure filled with emotions and hinted at a potential sequel with an open-ended climax.
There are also reports that Telugu star Nagarjuna and Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran may join the cast, although official confirmation is still awaited. SSMB29, which is set for a multi-language release, marks the first collaboration between Mahesh Babu and the renowned director SS Rajamouli.
