Madha Gaja Raja long-delayed release: Vishal pens heartfelt note as his ‘favourite family entertainer’ finally gets Pongal slot after 12 years

After 12 long years, Sundar C’s most-awaited comedy-drama Madha Gaja Raja, starring Vishal, Anjali, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, has finally locked its release date for Pongal 2025. As recently announced, the film will hit the big screens on January 12, 2025, following a long delay of 12 years. Ahead of its exciting Pongal release, leading man Vishal penned a heartfelt note, calling the Sundar C directorial one of his "favorite family entertainers" of his career.

Sharing the release date poster of the film, the actor wrote, “After 12 long years, one of my career’s favorite family entertainers, #MadhaGajaRaja, with my favorite #SundarC and @iamsanthanam combo, is all set to release this #Pongal to create a laughter riot among the audience. For the unversed, Madha Gaja Raja, which was supposed to hit the big screens in 2013, did not release due to financial troubles. However, after 12 years, the film is finally gearing up to see the light of day this Pongal festive season.

Sundar C on Vishal’s prep for Madha Gaja Raja

In an interview, the Aranmanai director Sundar C, who is equally excited as the audience for the release of his long-delayed film Madha Gaja Raja, shared insights into the efforts Vishal put into preparing for his role in the film. The director revealed that Vishal followed an intense diet to achieve an "8-pack" physique for the film. He said:

“Vishal almost starved himself to achieve an 8-pack figure for the film. Vijay Antony’s music is spot-on for the film too, and of course, Santhanam’s humor and the combination scenes between Sonu Sood and Vishal. We made it as a complete commercial package, but unfortunately, it could not be released during that time.”
