There is an ongoing buzz around the anticipated sequel of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan after the film struck a chord with Gen-Z. The Arjun Varain Singh directorial starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Adarsh Gourav and Ananya Panday highlights the issue of the topic of urban loneliness. It is about three best friends who navigate the complexities of life against the addictive draw of social media. Recently, the director shared his thoughts on the possibility of its part and expressed his uncertainty.
Arjun emphasized that Kho Gaye Hum Kahan doesn’t warrant a second part, however, he left room for its possibility. “I don’t know anything about doing a sequel. I don’t think it needs a sequel, to be very honest. But, you never know,” he told Indian Express. In the same interview, Arjun also revealed how Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film titled Jee Le Zaraa inspired him to explore the same idea for Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.
Arjun said that the film was originally titled Friends and Followers, and he realised it lacked impact. During that time, films using song lyrics as titles garnered attention, especially after Jee Le Zaraa’s announcement. Hence, he narrowed it down to Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and found it effectively resonating with the essence of the film. Furthermore, he also shared insights into the film's script development, characterisation and theme.
Meanwhile, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan marks Arjun’s directorial debut under the banners of Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Films. Jointly written by Singh, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, the coming-of-age drama was released on Netflix on December 26. The DesiMartini review of the film reads, “Some films tend to thrust you into a lane of self-introspection leaving you with a myriad of bitter-sweet emotions. Arjun Varain Singh’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is one such tale that revolves around the life of a trio of friends in their early 20s who navigate their emotions, insecurities, and inner demons.”
