The term 'superstar' is commonly used to describe actors with a strong fan following across global film industries. However, in Tamil cinema, it holds a much deeper meaning—it's an emotion, a title that belongs to only one actor: Rajinikanth. There’s no disputing this, as Tamil star Suriya demonstrated during a media interaction in Mumbai on Wednesday.
When the moderator addressed Suriya as a 'superstar,' he immediately corrected him. Standing up, he said, "Superstar is always Rajini sir. There is only one Superstar. You cannot take that name away from one person and wear it like a badge on another."

Suriya’s admiration for Rajinikanth has always been evident. Even when explaining the decision to postpone the release of Kanguva from October 10, he cited his respect for the Superstar . "Rajini sir is my senior. He started acting the year I was born and has been the identity of Tamil cinema for the last 50 years. I believe that on that date, only his film should come out. This is our respect towards Superstar," Suriya said earlier.
Suriya has been dedicating significant time and effort to promoting Kanguva across the country. At present, the main cast and crew are in Mumbai, engaging with fans and the media to build excitement for the movie in the Hindi-speaking states.
The filmmakers are planning a grand release of Kanguva in Hindi across North India. According to producer KE Gnanavel Raja, the film is set to release on more than 3000 screens in the Hindi belt alone. The production team has also allocated a massive budget for promotions, as they believe Kanguva has the potential to become Tamil cinema’s next pan-Indian success.
The team is confident that the presence of Bobby Deol in the movie will draw Hindi-speaking audiences to theatres. The film is scheduled for release on November 14.
