SS Rajamouli supports Kanguva
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli graced the pre-release event of Kanguva in Hyderabad on Thursday. Kanguva is the most expensive movie of Suriya's career, and he needs all the support he can muster to boost its chances of success across the country. And who better than Rajamouli to give Kanguva a push in the Telugu states?
Rajamouli seems to be returning the favour Suriya offered nearly 10 years ago when he took the biggest risk of his career. It’s worth recalling that Suriya volunteered to support the Tamil Nadu promotions of Baahubali: The Beginning.

Rajamouli risked everything to make Baahubali on an unprecedented scale, pouring money into it that seemed entirely impractical at the time. However, the film’s success transformed the Indian film industry, raising its global profile to a whole new level.
Suriya attended the trailer launch event for Baahubali in Chennai, humbling himself to highlight Rajamouli's talent and the film’s grandeur. "I told Rajamouli sir, that even if I can be useful for this movie in a small way, please involve me. So, he invited me to this event. I am happy, even though I have not acted in the movie," Suriya had said at the time.
Since then, Suriya has never missed an opportunity to praise Rajamouli and his impact on Indian cinema. Suriya has expressed his desire to collaborate with Rajamouli and has publicly regretted missing the chance to star in one of his films.
In many ways, Rajamouli’s ambitious leap with Baahubali revealed the true potential of the Indian box office and inspired filmmakers to dream bigger, making projects like Kanguva possible.
Kanguva, set to be the most expensive movie of Suriya's career, is a period drama set about 700 years ago, revolving around rivalries between tribal groups who worship different deities. The film also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani and is due in cinemas on November 14.
