Kangana Ranaut Emergency
After portraying late politician J Jayalalitha in Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut has taken up a bigger challenge to essay former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Emergency . The film will showcase an important chapter of India’s history between 1975 and 1977 when Mrs. Gandhi declared an emergency. While the political drama is still being shot, Congress has raised objections claiming that the film is an attempt to tarnish the image of the former Prime Minister.
As per a news portal, Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department vice-president Sangeeta Sharma objected to Kangana’s portrayal as Indira Gandhi. Calling her ‘a BJP agent’, she said that the actress took the role to tarnish the image of Indira Gandhi at the behest of the ruling BJP. Therefore, she demands that the film be shown to them before its release. Reacting to her, state BJP spokesperson Rajpal Singh Sisodia retorted they need not worry as the Emergency is a black spot on the nation’s democracy and Indira Gandhi was heroine during it.
