Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is on a signing spree, and the actor is set to star in several movies, across languages. One of the upcoming projects of the star is the pan-Indian action drama titled Kaantha, which also stars Rana Daggubati. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film is currently in its pre-production stage. However, in the latest development, the makers have reportedly roped in a well-known South Indian actress to play the actor’s love interest.
Krithi Shetty to star opposite Dulquer Salmaan in Kaantha?
According to the latest reports, Manamey actress Krithi Shetty has been approached to play the female lead opposite Dulquer in his multilingual action drama. Reports reveal that the makers have taken this decision since Dulquer and Krithi’s pairing would be refreshing and unique as they are both ‘good-looking and talented too.’ As per sources, ‘discussions are under way but nothing has been fixed yet’. However, the makers feel that the audiences would ‘welcome the fresh jodi wholeheartedly.’ An official confirmation is awaited.

Kaantha is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, who made his directorial debut with Nila (2016), which won the audience award at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival. He also created the Netflix documentary series The Hunt for Veerappan. Interestingly, the young filmmaker had previously assisted Ang Lee in the Indian schedule of the Oscar-winning film Life of Pi.
His upcoming multilingual action film will have Dulquer Salmaan and Telugu star Rana Daggubati playing key roles. The movie was announced in 2023 but is yet to go on floors. Earlier, when the project was announced, Dulquer took to his social media pages to share the title poster, which featured a man standing below a massive chandelier. The actor also expressed his excitement over working on the film and shared his excitement over playing a ‘challenging role.’
The movie is produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, in association with Rana Daggubati’s home banner Spirit Media, and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam.
