Telugu superstar Jr NTR recently shared his admiration for the new wave of Tamil filmmakers who are redefining mainstream cinema across the country. In a recent interview, NTR praised directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee, and Nelson for their contributions to expanding Tamil cinema's global appeal.
"Tamil cinema shines with innovative talent. I think the Tamil film industry needs to show their progress to everyone around the world," NTR told Ananda Vikatan, referring to the young filmmakers shaping the industry’s future.

He highlighted his fondness for Lokesh Kanagaraj's films, particularly the distinct “vibe” they bring to audiences. NTR also expressed admiration for Nelson’s knack for crafting blockbuster moments. Speaking of Jailer, he said, "It was long since I saw Rajini sir like that... Oh my God... semma mass!"
NTR also revealed that he has been in discussions with Atlee, the director behind Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. While an idea for a romantic comedy was floated, their busy schedules prevented the project from moving forward. However, he emphasized that it's only a matter of time before he collaborates with Atlee.
NTR's appreciation for Tamil cinema extends to director Vetrimaaran, whom he describes as his "favourite." During a press conference in Chennai, he publicly requested Vetrimaaran to make a straight Tamil film with him, saying it could be dubbed in Telugu later. Though they’ve been discussing potential projects, conflicting schedules have kept the collaboration from materializing.
As NTR gears up for the release of his highly anticipated film Devara Part 1, slated to hit theatres on September 27, he expressed confidence that the movie would resonate well with Tamil audiences.
Devara, written and directed by Koratala Siva, also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.
